...But NATO turns the blame back on Milosevic and insists it will intensify its attacks.
CBS News Military Consultant Mitch Mitchell says that's the only logical strategy.
"I think any time you stop a bombing campaign it better be because someone said 'Uncle'," says Mitchell, a retired U.S. Army colonel. "Slobodan Milosevic responds only to power. If we stop the bombing campaign right now to assess why the damage occurred only to civilians, then he will see this as a sign of weakness."
Aides to Milosevic say he is willing to negotiate with the U.N. but will not bow to NATO demands. Boguljub Karic, a Yugoslav government spokesman, said Milosevic "will not accept anything because he has to, because we do not have to accept anything. We can live like this for another hundred years."
